You seem to have installed a great many DYNACORD D12 speakers in recent months, in places as diverse as halls, shopping centres, and sports arenas. Why do you rely so often on this system?
Freddy Korsgaard: For one simple reason: We always like to offer our customers the best solution, and the DYNACORD D12 represents just that in a great many situations. It’s an absolute all-rounder and therefore suitable for many different types of installation. Its stable mate, the D12-3, has also proved a major success on many of our commissions.
What are the main installations the ASCON team is working on right now?
Freddy Korsgaard: Our main task at the moment is the outdoor stadium in Horsens, where once again we’re using DYNACORD D12 and D12-3 loudspeakers. Part of our work there involves networking the evacuation system in the stadium with the system already installed in the indoor area --- a task easily enough managed, since the DYNACORD ProMatrix system forms the basis, making networking very simple to implement. This illustrates another of the great virtues of DYNACORD products: not only do they perform superbly but they are also extremely easy to integrate.
What other installations do you have lined up?
Freddy Korsgaard: The installation in the Vejle Stadium should prove an outstanding reference for us. We’ve already installed fifty-four DYNACORD D12 speakers, and no sooner had we finished the first sound check than the manager came over and said to us: “These small loudspeakers don’t look especially imposing but they sound simply phenomenal!” Naturally we were happy to hear it, and we are confident that the managers of other stadiums and arenas, once they’ve seen and heard the Vejle installation, will draw their own conclusions.
That should give you a real competitive edge...
Freddy Korsgaard: A safe enough assumption. We've done our homework, so we know the system works flawlessly. But the most important thing is always customer satisfaction, and word of the high quality of DYNACORD solutions is spreading.
How many installations did ASCON Trading perform in 2007?
Freddy Korsgaard: I think we performed some 30 reasonably major installations using products from EVI Audio.
In addition to the sound performance and reliability of its products, what do you particularly like about working with EVI Audio?
Freddy Korsgaard: It's a European company for one thing; the geographical proximity is definitely an advantage. Add to that the fact that the support and communication provided by the EVI Audio team is simply perfect. In addition to the high level of expertise, the chemistry works – we feel like one happy family.
How much prestige is attached to the DYNACORD brand in the Danish pro audio market?
Freddy Korsgaard: A great deal! DYNACORD is both very well known and highly respected. The brand's image is perfect. We're constantly reminded of this when we hear statements like: "If you want the best sound or evacuation system, go to ASCON Trading. With DYNACORD in their portfolio, they can offer you the very best products. What's more, they know what they're talking about: they aren't just pedalling speakers." By performing careful simulations and meticulous installations, we've earned a reputation for doing good work. We’re often described as "not perhaps the cheapest but certainly the best in their field". We can live with that.
What are your goals for 2008?
Freddy Korsgaard: We want to be the market-leader; we want everyone to know they'll get the very best sound reinforcement or evacuation system from us. And a glance at our order books this year makes plain it's a perfectly attainable objective.
You and your team have been working for some time now with DYNACORD under the new Bosch umbrella. Has anything changed in your opinion? If so, what?
Freddy Korsgaard: There have been changes, but welcome ones. The new buildings in Straubing indicate that Bosch is thinking long-term. DYNACORD now has the most modern production line and finest test facility in Europe. The magnitude of Bosch's investment in research and development also indicates that the company is on the right track. For this reason, we await eagerly the products that will be coming from Straubing in the future. Our expectations are enormously high – with justification, I believe.
