Straubing, August 2008 The Titanick Theater is often described as the “most spectacular street theatre in Germany”.. No wonder, for performances by the Münster-based troupe are invariably sensational, featuring bizarre characters, fascinating props, spectacular special effects, atmospheric sets, and powerful live music--an intoxicating cocktail, as those who attended Munich’s 850th Birthday celebrations on the 19th of July in the Bavarian capital soon discovered.
When the futuristic conveyances of the “Firebirds”--accompanied by crackling pyrotechnics--take to the air, the sound equipment assumes a special importance. It also poses an awkward challenge, because the sound equipment has to be integrated harmoniously into the two stage sets, whilst taking up as little space as possible. For the production, Louis Altrogge relied on a DYNACORD Cobra system for the main stage and an assortment of DYNACORD D-Lite and Electro-Voice components for the mobile stage.
“The Cobra impresses me anew with each performance,” says Altrogge, who has been working with DYNACORD systems since the late ‘60s. “It delivers a powerful, precise sound, as well as being compact and refreshingly quick and uncomplicated to assemble and disassemble. What more could one ask of a PA?” For the mobile stage, which measured a mere 1.8 x 5 metres, the ace sound engineer, who has worked with acts of the calibre of the Bee Gees and Pink Floyd, had to come up with a special solution, because the nine square metres had to accommodate not only the audio equipment but also a generator and several musicians. “An assortment of DYNACORD D-Lite 2000, Electro-Voice SXA 760 B sub-bass, and Electro-Voice ZX5 enclosures, along with DYNACORD desks and amplifiers, proved the ideal solution here.”
