La Mania draws a positive balance

Straubing, November 2008 La Mania is only open ten weeks a year. Into those ten weeks, however, it packs 365 days’ worth of living, as any of the 150,000 plus guests the club entertained this year alone will tell you. Located in Mamaia, the most popular bathing and party resort on Romania’s Black Sea coast, the club can accommodate around 2,500 guests at a time—and when their doors are open they invariably do! To offer its international clientele the finest possible sound, La Mania’s management invested in a new sound system earlier this year.

After numerous demos and presentations, the decision-makers opted for a DYNACORD alpha system. Cornel Petcu of the Romanian DYNACORD partner HSA Audio described how the system was put through its paces for the benefit of the La Mania team: “The club’s sound technicians were already fully informed about the system before we arrived. They knew all about the DYNACORD alpha’s superlative international references. Even so, when they actually heard the system for the first time with their own ears, they were totally convinced not only by the sound pressure levels the system was delivering but also by the quality of the reproduction. After that, they reached a decision very quickly – in favour, needless to say, of the alpha.”

The installation, directed by HSA’s managing director Adrian Colita in person, took four days; and ever since, the club – which is divided acoustically into three zones (“VIP Table”, “Dancefloor” and “DJ Booth”) – has been setting new standards in terms of sound quality. And not just in Romania: “DJ Mag”, the clubbers’ treasured almanac, already ranks the acoustically renovated La Mania in 29th place among the world’s top discotheques. No wonder the cream of the DJ profession – including stars like Sasha, Lee Burridge, and Steve Lawler – responds now with such alacrity to requests to man the turntables.
