Straubing, March 2009 The live concerts in the Agora Marquee (in the central piazza at the Frankfurt Messe) have for years now been among the live highlights of each new edition of the Musikmesse/Prolight+Sound trade fair in Frankfurt. After a number of successful years with the Real Groove Band – along with star guests such as Haddaway, Bobby Kimball and most recently T.M. Stevens – Electro-Voice, DYNACORD, Midas and Klark Teknik have secured the services in 2009 of a star with a worldwide reputation: guitar legend Steve Lukather.
The session musician and Toto guitarist will be performing with his high-calibre band three times a day from the 1st to the 4th April in the Agora Marquee. Credit for the coup goes to Robert Pletz, Head of Marketing of the Business Unit Communications Systems of Bosch Security Systems, and Wolfgang Lücke, the Director of the Frankfurt Musikmesse. “We’re proud to be bringing, in the shape of Steve Lukather, a genuine legend to Frankfurt. His hits with Toto are milestones in musical history along with his countless studio appearances. Furthermore, Steve Lukather is still considered ‘the world’s best guitarist’. The Agora Marquee promises to be packed,” says Pletz.
For almost twenty years, Lukather has been pursuing a solo career alongside his work with Toto. And with equal success. The album “No Substitute”, for example, on which he appeared with Larry Carlton, won the Grammy in 2002 for “Best Pop Instrumental Album”. In Frankfurt, Steve Lukather will be flanked by the more-than-capable Steve Weingart (keyboard), Eric Valentine (drums), Carlitos del Puerto (bass) and Ricky Zahariedes (guitar).
About Steve Lukather
Born in 1957 in the San Fernando Valley/Los Angeles, guitarist, singer, songwriter and producer Steve Lukather must rank among the finest talents in rock history. Already as a teenager he was playing in the band of Boz Scaggs. Just turned twenty, Lukather, together with a number of friends (including the Porcaro brothers and David Paich), formed Toto. This pioneering rock band finally broke up at the end of last year after over 30 years’ success.
In addition to countless awards, around a thousand studio recordings with big-name acts – including Aerosmith, Quincy Jones, Eric Clapton, Michael Jackson and Sir Paul McCartney – underline Steve Lukather’s outstanding quality as a guitarist.
