One hour before the curtain rose on superstar DJ Tiesto, the 2300-strong audience at Montreal’s Metropolis chanted the DJ's name, summoning the turntable titan to the stage. At 11:00PM sharp the lights and sound fired up and the crowd reached fever pitch awaiting their hero. It was to the sound of his latest CD “In Search of Sunrise 5” that the curtain finally rose on the Metropolis stage, and it didn’t drop for the next three and a half hours…
Gil Perron of Productions Reno was behind the lighting and stage concept for the event, Robert Grimard of Productions Reno was responsible for the sound concept. Jason Rodi from Moment Factory handled the visuals and Steeve Henry from Produkt House handled the artistic design.
The Metropolis crowd were surrounded by 36000 watts of sound from Dynacord Cobra-4 systems supplied by Erikson Pro. The Cobra configuration for the evening was all about controlled coverage with tons of low end thump: Two Cobra-4 kits, a stack of four PWH subs, two Cobra-Tops, a Cobra-Far, and a CSR-4 LX amp rack in each of the four corners made it happen with headroom to spare.
“The Cobra-4 is without a doubt the best conceived system that I've ever laid my hands on,” said Robert Grimard, “from the quality of the audio design to the simple power of such a compact and complete system, I'm impressed.”
"Although line-array systems are not conventionally designed for use in four corner applications, this system performed flawlessly with astounding results,” added Claus Frostell, Erikson Pro Product Specialist. “I am convinced that the Cobra-4 will soon become the leading dance/club PA, and, as the Tiesto show goes to show, this system is even more versatile than originally thought.”
