Leipzig’s new World Cup stadium features DYNACORD ProAnnounce system

Three years in the construction and costing some 88.5 million euro, the new Central Stadium in Leipzig is ready for the World Cup. Here, as in most of the other venues for next year’s tournament, the organizers are relying on a safety and alarm system from DYNACORD

In December 2003, the Central Stadium in Leipzig, which had taken three years to build at a cost of 88.5 million euro, was dedicated. With its futuristic architecture and ultra-modern equipment, the new football stadium satisfies the very demanding criteria imposed by the sport’s governing body, FIFA. Being one of only twelve venues selected to host the world’s most watched sporting event, the new stadium will thrust the city once famous for its university, its trade fairs and for having had JS Bach as its Civic Director of Music for the last 27 years of his life, into the international limelight once again at 15:00 on the 11th June 2006 when Match 6 gets underway.

One of the most important, if not the most important, area covered by the FIFA regulations is stadium safety, in which the quality of the alarm and public address systems is of crucial importance. Like most of the top football stadiums in Germany — and, indeed, the whole of Europe — the Central Stadium is equipped with a sound system from EVI Audio; in this case, a DYNACORD ProAnnounce comprising DPM 4000 digital system controllers, DCS 420 monitor units and DPA 4140 power amplifiers.

The most striking visual aspect of the 45,000-seater stadium, apart from its lavish hospitality suites, is the spectacular roof construction with its integrated floodlights. The stadium is run by the Zentralstadion Leipzig Betreibergesellschaft mbH (ZSL).
